In 1965, future hall-of-famer Carl Yastrzemski of the Boston Red Sox got a hit off of pitcher Satchel Paige. At the time, Paige was listed as 59 years old, although it is widely believed that he was older.

Satchel Paige, who started his career in the Negro Leagues, became the oldest player to make his major league debut when he was sold to Cleveland in 1948. He was 42 at the time.
