Notre Dame Football in the Movies

Picture of a FootballTrivia Question

In 1975, the Notre Dame football team (the “Fighting Irish”) carried a player off of the field after their last home game against Georgia Tech. That individual was to become the subject of a very popular sports movie. Who was that player and what was the movie that was made about him and his quest to play for Notre Dame?

Trivia Question Answer

The player was Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger. The movie about him and his quest to play for the Fighting Irish is the popular Rudy. The movie was the first that Notre Dame allowed to be filmed on campus since the 1940 classic Knute Rockne All American.

Wikipedia has a good write up about Rudy –, and a biography of him – Daniel Ruettiger.
