The longest 9 inning game was played by the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees. On August 18, 2006 the Red Sox and Yankees went at it for 4 hours and 45 minutes at Fenway Park. The Yankees prevailed in that game 14-11. These same two teams also own the record for the longest double hitter at 8 hours and 40 minutes on August 18, 2006 at Fenway Park. The Red Sox lost both ends of the double header (as well as a lot of sleep) 12-4 in the opener, and 14-11 in the closer (the longest game).

On October 4, 1986, Minnesota Twins shortstop Greg Gagne hit two inside the park home runs in a single game against the Chicago White Sox in the 2nd and 4th innings. The one in the 4th was a 3-run inside-the-park home run. Minnesota won the game 7-3.
